Frequently Asked Questions

How does virtual therapy work?

After scheduling an appointment through our client portal, you will connect with your therapist via a secure platform within this portal. Your therapist will guide you through the session just as they would in person, offering professional support, strategies, and interventions based on your needs

What equipment do I need for virtual therapy?

For video sessions, you'll need a device with a camera (laptop, tablet, or smartphone), a reliable internet connection, and a private, quiet space. We do not offer phone or text therapy

Can virtual therapy work for all types of issues?

Virtual therapy can be effective for a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, stress management, and more. However, some conditions, particularly severe mental health crises, may require in-person care or additional resources, such as emergency intervention. Your therapist will assess your situation and recommend the best course of action.

Will my insurance cover services?

TLC Counseling accepts many forms of commercial insurance and Medicaid. Contact us to check if your insurance covers services. Spiritual counseling is not covered under insurance and will be private pay. Some of our clinicians also offer sliding-scale fees for self-pay clients.

Is virtual therapy suitable for children or teenagers?

Yes, virtual therapy can be effective for children and teens, depending on their age and comfort with technology. At TLC Counseling, we are currently only working with children 13 and older.
